    The Mirgan language is an Indo-Aryan language spoken by the Mirgan community in parts of eastern India, primarily in the states of Odisha and Chhattisgarh. Also known as Panika, it is a stable language within the community, although some reports note that it is a mix of Odia and Chhattisgarhi. The language is indigenous to India, but it is not taught in schools.The Mirgan people are committed to preserving their language. Community members communicate exclusively in Mirgan during organized events, including those with state officials. The language is primarily used for oral communication. Many Mirgan people are semi-literate in Odia, which is also spoken in the region. The Mirgan people are a Scheduled Caste community known for their traditional occupation of weaving. The people are are also referred to as Panka, particularly in Chhattisgarh. The community has a distinct social and cultural identity, and their language is a significant part of that identity.
