    The Kisan language is a Dravidian language spoken in India, primarily in states like Jharkhand, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh, along with West Bengal, Assam, and Bihar. There are also speakers in northern Bangladesh, Nepal, and Bhutan. It's a dialect of the broader North Dravidian language, Kurukh (also called Oraon), and shares a close relationship with the Malto language. The Kisan people are a tribal peasant community with a history rooted in forest tribes, and the language is central to their culture and social customs. In some areas, the language is used as a medium of instruction in schools. The Kisan dialect had approximately 206,100 speakers in 2011, according to the Digital Bible Society.
